WAFFLE for NATURALMAT

Naturalmat have been hand crafting organic mattresses and beds in Devon since 1999 using only the finest natural materials. We share a passion for craftsmanship and a love of natural and sustainable fibres.

Our ideas for a collaboration grew steadily after we met at Decorex in 2017 and we have enjoyed building relations with production partners in South India since. We are delighted to present our collaboration of hand embroidered throws.

Inspiration was taken from the rolling hills of Devon, where the Naturalmat factory is based. The design was inspired by the landscape to create a motif which was hand embroidered using the WAFFLE signature style.

Meanwhile fabric weaving of 2 new colourways was underway with the social initiative in South India. This project aims to protect, preserve and promote the handloom textile weaving heritage of Chennimalai in Southern India. This partnership was a key element in making the collection happen.

Choosing colours is always an exciting part of the design process and takes time, trial and error to find just the right combination. We selected 2 timeless colourways; MIST and MOOR-

Typically all hand embroidery for WAFFLE products is completed in the UK or Ireland. The embroidery for this project was carried out by our partners in India. We sent intricate design details with instructions and sampling until we reached sign off stage.
